Punta Cana, located in the Dominican Republic, means ‘white tips of palms’ in Spanish, a name that seems appropriate given where it is located. Because of the dense palms that line the beaches of Punta Cana and Bavaro, the area has been nicknamed the Coconut Coast or Costa del Coco.
